I have also trained in Hot Stone Therapy: Ili Ili Level 1. This beautiful treatment addresses the many levels of healing necessary to restore balance in the body, mind and soul. It combines the long rhythmic strokes of Hawaiian style massage with the gliding of hot stones along the body.

What type of massage therapies do I offer?

My initial training was in the Swedish style of massage but my passion and later training has led me in the direction of Hawaiian Kahuna bodywork, which incorporates Lomi Lomi.  Whilst Lomi Lomi is described as a spiritual massage, both it and the Swedish techniques are practical and specific. Within both these styles I am able to utilise the warmth of the hot rocks which further enhances both the physical, spiritual and emotional effectiveness of these therapies.

What can I expect in my Lomi Lomi Massage?

Kahuna bodywork or Lomi Lomi is a full body oil massage that is dynamic and flowing.  It is described as like the ebb and flow of the ocean and the natural dance like rhythm and the flow of breath in this session will lull you in to a deep state of relaxation.  A sarong is used as a modesty covering over the pubic and buttocks at all times during the massage. The chest/breast and belly are usually included as a part of an integrative approach to treating the body as a whole. Your therapist will intuitively direct her flow to your individual needs, using their hands, thumbs, palms, elbows, forearms and sometimes feet.

What benefits can I expect from a Lomi Lomi Massage?

Lomi Lomi is definitely more than ‘just a massage’. On top of the regular physical benefits of other types of massage, (such as muscle pain relief, detoxification, stress relief, lymphatic drainage, increased circulation, relaxation. increased joint mobility and flexibility, improved skin tone and improved recovery of soft tissue injuries, to name a few), Lomi Lomi takes you to a deep, quiet place inside yourself.  Your breath slows, your mind is free, relaxed and kind of empty.  It is about creating a feeling of being nurtured and cared for and it creates the space for joy and creativity ‘to come’.
